Painting/ dipping to brass

Anyone had any experience dipping to brass and it holding up successfully? I haven't tried it yet because i told the customer I wanted to research it before I said yes it can be done. Its a bait caster reel the guy is wanting done. Ive looked and haven't found any info on such material being painted and dipped to. But was hoping maybe someone can shed some light on it for me.

I dip aluminum, brass and copper exclusively. I use OHW  and have had no adhesion problems. The parts are newly machined, degrease and scuffed.

If you blast any metal, adhesion is easy. If you don’t have access to a blaster, scuffing or sanding thoroughly should work with a good paint like One Hit Wonder.

Ok Thanks guys yea i have an atlas cabinet an as far as the paint I use only automotive paint cause i get to good of a deal to switch. I just wanted to make sure it can be done before I screwed up a guys reel. Thanks again!!!

I misread that.. thought you said you was "painting-dipping-to-bras"...

I have only used OWH... no primer needed. You will need to test your automotive paint for adhesion.

You will need to dip AND clear within the recoatability window of your particular paint. Usually 8-12 hours of spraying the basecoat

Remember dipping to brass, you’ll need a primer, then a basecoat. OHW will save you time and material
