Hmmm? Haven't been doing any dipping for ages, so I had to turn my head trying to remember what you ask for.. -but the little I have learnt I have been writing in the posts... If you found that thread, it quite CLEAR isn't it?... ;-)

Yes mate its is very good and clear great instructions to follow
Just did u ever figure out what you could use as a fixative to seal ink that will last more than lacquer
As the lacquer or klarlak u use cant i only use that 15 min before dipping
Im tryin to see what would last longer so i can print my film and send to a friend to.dip so he wont need to use laquer / klarlak on it
Have heard factory activator A from china will last long time once dry and can store film away safely so that might be an option
I just want to print film so i can apply a fixative on and keep sheets of prints for more than a day but still be able to dip
Did u ever try activating film with klarlak
That had been dry for more than a day for example ..
Appreciate your time and rhanks for the reply

      Hi.

Sorry, but Its a year since I experiment with those things, and then never had the time to follow it up.
So I havent done any dipping at all since then, and simply don't know...

Neither do I understand why your friend cannot fixate your prints before dipping? And I don't understand why you don't try the stuff you found in China?...

But I do have a feeling that "studebaker" (that has been doing this stuff for a living) also has told us in his posts!...

Please read and search the forum, and talk to people that is active!

      Good luck!

Also did u work.out best settings for print
I see you were asking studebaker that guy is so knows do much his very helpful ..
Did u need a rip or icc profile
As u were saying maybe too much in on pva
I print at full quality but have plain paper selected in epson print  driver and printer itself ..
My results look good when white paper is still behind but obviously with peeling it becomes lighter dull on the clear film
When i apply to.my white base coat and dry glue off and clear coat  i feel like it will bring color back vibrant like it was on the backing when first printed  is this correct ..
Do u have a email i can contact u on to shate some pics for a little help ..
    I use a epsin pro stylus 7700 24 inch
I know or think insaw u use a epson 4000 or similiar so your driver settings would help alot appreciate your time

Hello frim australia mate i am learning how to print this blank paperback custom film ..
I use a epson pro stylus 7700 with pigment ultrachrome ink ..
Would you be able to tell me if i need activator A fixative on my print or can it go to water without it ..
I have seen pieter debeer video south african and a  indian company h20graphix print and tape borders and go straight to dip they are using epson p5000 and p6000 with ultrachrome ink and i know by asking h20graphix india said to me tbey dont put any ACtivator A on film and just dip ... but did say film will dissappear after about 2 min so activator B is applied as soon as tbe film settles back down after wrinkling to begin with then dip object and wait 5 min to rinse glue off ...
Any tips .... if i do need activator A what can i use as a long term solution instead of gloss lacquer paint
Hope u can give me some idea thanks again

Hey! I’m sorry but I have zero experience with printing my own film. No clue as to the differences between activator A & others.

Contact Studebaker on here. He is the printing guru.

With so much information, what are the best specs to fabricate a shop, is there a good resource you can direct me towards? I am doing the build all myself and the mechanical as well. I come from a mechanical family, with HVAC experience. But want to make sure I have correct sizing on everything. This is my building and I have a separate room for dipping.

  • New member from Shoreview MN. Been dipping for about 4 months and trying to specialize in dipping old car window and windshield metal trim. I find this very challenging to get it done right. I welcome any and all comments on how to do things better. Looking forward to learning a lot on this site.
    Thanks, RonH
