  • Re: Sanding ABS plastic before hydro dipping?

Well, this is going exactly like I thought it would...

  • Re: Looking for training in the Midwest or close

My caution on tanks was just that...caution...I know and can control my sponsors to a certain extent and that helps shield you and other members of the forum from the vast amount of unscrupulous vendors that are out there and increasing every single day...your dismissal of my opinion is what brought the hate...whether intentional or not? It's just the way it all went down...I don't say that to be mean...it's just the way things happen...I also apologize if I came across rudely or any other way than helpful...unfortunately like you mentioned, voice inflection or facial gestures do not come across with the conversation and intent can be misdirected...

Believe it or not? This conversation happens ALL the time here on the forum...believe it or not...All the contributors are trying to do is help you and others reading this forum understand that we have seen it before...Hundreds of times in fact...Guys wanting some direction...and all the forum contributors are trying to do is caution you and others that THE CONFIDENCE that allows you to take up something completely foreign to your existing skill set, invest in that trust and confidence by embarking on an exciting new venture? THAT confidence can also be your downfall and many MANY guys fall into that same trap...disregarding the best of advice and intent they "Sally Forth" because they are different or can work harder than others or have a better business plan or (for Pete's Sakes) "No one else around here does it" so the territory is ripe, like a unplucked fruit, for the taking...or any myriad of other reasons...the one thing that binds them all together is that confidence...and it is that which leads to their undoing...if it were not true? There would be THOUSANDS more guys doing this for a living instead of barely surviving in their garages doing cups and AR furniture as a tortuous pastime when they should be putting their efforts elsewhere...

Here is one thing I caution and I will leave it at that...what most guys who start this as a "Side Job" never realize or take into account, and I have said this over and over to all my trainees,...it's the FIRST topic bullet point in my training booklet...I interview the trainee and ask what his goals and his business plans are...and ANYTIME "Part-time" or "Side Job" or "Second Source of Income" or anything that resembles any of these answers? I caution them with this advice "If you are at ALL successful or good at what you do? Your business will grow (trust me it will) and you will have to make a decision whether to pursue it or go back to your "day job". You will have a Tiger by the tail and you won't be able to let it go...that's what owning a business is like simply put...

If you decide to stick with it? Then you will eventually phase out equipment that is hindering the growth of your business...you will have no choice because that is the nature of business. You eliminate that which impairs your ability to grow...you MUST in order to survive...so all the "bargain" or "just to get me by until I make money" things in your business will be replaced...which is usually about twice what you would have spent in the first place PLUS the downtime which translates to lost wages until you get back up and running...Buying or building equipment is all too often envisioned as some "Right of Passage" that automatically means the business is up and running now all we have to do is wait for the barrels of cash to come rolling in...And bear in mind that recent statistics are real...most business will not be profitable for the first 2 years of the business...TWO YEARS WITH NO PROFIT...let that roll around for a bit and seriously think about the figure...

That is the extent of what I wish to type today...there is much more but I am beginning to look like a pompous a$$ at this point I am sure...

So while your original post was about training? It involves so much more information than just "Hey where can I get some training in the Midwest"...I and other contributors are only trying to help...we just suck at communication skills...
  • Re: Football Follies Week 5 2017

Yea sorry guys...last week was a bad week around here but I will get on this weeks contest...

And yea that was a late hit on Rodgers...I hate to say it but it was...that being said? It does not break my heart to see him go away for a year...or even when he retires...unless he comes to Minnesota like Favre did and almost takes us to a SuperBowl...THAT would be something to see...

Onward and upward to week 7...the separation has begun...(see what I did there? Collarbone...separation?...nevermind...)
  • Re: Looking for training in the Midwest or close

To expect so customers to be happy at all times as a business owner is just ignorant.
Nope...this one...I don't expect any company has 100% customer satisfaction and I am certainly not "ignorant" of that fact...nor do I believe everything a salesman, who is paid to push equipment, tells me over the phone regardless of how "helpful" they seem...YOU may choose to do otherwise and that is your choice...

Secondly, I do not require a lesson in customer satisfaction, bad reviews, odds of a customer writing a bad review when I have personal experience based on YEARS of emails and threads on consumers experience...something which you are not privy to...and I respect that and your right to choose to spend your money where you want...

My statement was just my opinion...it was worth what you paid for it...exactly nothing...

So in the end? Yea if you choose to spend your money with a forum sponsor? Yea I would consider coming out and putting on a remote...because you are helping keep this forum alive by spending money with the sponsor...so you can benefit from this forum and the information...pretty weird how that works but yea...you could be some motivation for Brent and me to put together a class and I would welcome the interest because I have not visited Brent in some time...

If you wish to spend the money elsewhere with someone who does not sponsor the forum? Then should we get some interest in the future then yea I will put on a remote but it will be when we get some interest...
