Film and air conditioning

Ok, so we moved into our new shop in the fall and I haven't needed the a/c until now for the film room. There's not central a/c so the landlord supplied us with one of the stand alone units like from Lowe's. The problem is my film stays really soft like I don't have the a/c on at all. There's a setting for dehumidify and cool both, I've tried both settings with the same results and it'll get downright cold. When I had the film at home in the a/c it was fine. What is it about the standalone unit that is different?
