Voids

We're getting some voids on our speed shapes. They all pretty much look the same and have been happening on several different films. Lots of times it is just where we hit the water. Tried going in a little steeper and that seemed to help, but then the pattern tends to stretch a little funny on some patterns.

OHW Paint - 2 day cure

90 deg water
60 second soak, one pass w/ 1.8 tip Air Gunsa

Could you take a picture of the film right before you insert the speed shape?

almost looks like maybe you have air bubbles under the film. how is your light above your tank?

Could be bubbles under this film. We are in a very well lit room and can "read" the film pretty well, but have seen this on quite a few of our speed shapes with different films that definitely don't have bubbles under them.

Also, we tend to get them where we are hitting the water flat. But I've seen so many people hit the water pretty flat with the speed shapes and they turn out fine. I was thinking underactivation....

This is a case of the activator gun "spitting". Usually caused by needing to clean the orifice or/and increase the air pressure a little bit. If it were bubbles under the film those dots of imperfection would be the color of the basecoat with no ink attached. It appears the ink is "Overmelted" in just those spots. And because it's happening with your other films and you are in a well-lit shop.......
